Bot display name lets a workspace change how Brainer appears inside its connected Discord server.
This is a server-specific nickname. It does not rename the global CollabOS bot or affect other workspaces.
Availability
Bot display name is available with:
- Community & Discord
- Everything
Raffles-only and Collaboration-only workspaces cannot change the bot display name.
Who can change it
Workspace owners and admins can update the bot display name from Community & Discord > Settings.
Other workspace roles may see the setting, but they cannot save changes.
How to change the bot display name
- Open Community & Discord.
- Go to Settings.
- Find Bot display name.
- Enter the name you want the bot to show in your Discord server.
- Save.
To return to the default global bot name, use Restore default.
Discord permission requirement
Brainer needs Change Nickname permission in the Discord server. If the bot does not have this permission, CollabOS will not save the new display name.
Notes
- The name can be up to 32 characters.
- Empty names are treated as Restore default.
- The saved display name is reapplied during Discord setup or bot startup.
- CollabOS does not clear nicknames that were manually configured in Discord unless a workspace owner or admin explicitly restores the default from CollabOS.
