Team Management
Leave a workspace
Leaving a workspace allows a member to remove themselves from a workspace they no longer want or need access to. This is useful when someone changes roles, leaves a team, or should no longer be part of that workspace.
Who can leave a workspace
Typically, non-owner members can leave a workspace. Owners usually cannot leave directly without first transferring ownership or handling the workspace appropriately.
Why leave-workspace matters
This feature helps keep workspace membership accurate without requiring someone else to remove the user manually every time. It is useful when:
- a manager is no longer involved
- a contractor finishes work
- a member joined the wrong workspace
- someone wants to clean up their access
What happens after leaving
After leaving a workspace:
- the member loses access
- they are no longer an active member
- the team list may update to remove or disable them
- another workspace may become their active selection if applicable
When to use leave-workspace instead of removal
Leave-workspace is best when:
- the user is choosing to leave on their own
- there is no dispute about access
- the person is simply done with the workspace
Removal is better when:
- leadership needs to revoke access
- the user should not remain active
- an admin or owner is managing the change directly
💡Best practices
- leave workspaces you no longer need
- avoid staying active in irrelevant workspaces
- make sure important projects or deals are reassigned before leaving if needed
